Amarta is my choice in Balian for a slow beachfront stay on Bali's quieter west coast. Polished bungalows face an oceanfront pool, the beach is right there, and a spa and restaurant mean you rarely need to leave. Breakfast, WiFi and parking are included, and a 9.2 score from more than 500 reviews is excellent for a three-star retreat. It suits surfers and rest seekers more than anyone chasing nightlife.

Why guests love itI would recommend Amarta to families who want a quiet beach base well away from Bali's busy south. The property is listed as kid-friendly, breakfast is included, and the bungalows sit beside an oceanfront pool, which I would favour over the sea here, as Balian is a surf break with a black-sand beach. Airport shuttle and full-service laundry take pressure off a longer family trip, and parking is free if you drive.
